2009 6/10 This film suffered from a lack of focus. Clearly more interested in being true to Wolverine's back story whilst contriving more, and this didn't always gel. Having said that, the action was entertaining, the pacing was satisfactory, as was the acting. Overall, worth a watch and nice to see but not a patch… Continue reading X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE
2007 7/10 This was a beautiful film, told with the unusual and yet curiously compelling narrative structure of reading the story as if from a novel. Brad Pitt's performance as a troubled and complex outlaw was first rate, as was the almost fanatically devoted Robert Ford, as played by Affleck. The setting was stunning, from… Continue reading ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD, THE
1982/2007 7/10 Style over substance. Looks stunning, and thanks to Blade Runner, grunge and Sci Fi have made great bed partners for almost 30 years, but in the end, there' s little story which leaves me cold, but the look, sound and feel of the film, certainly in 1982, is first rate.
1956 6/10 A colourful and faithful telling of this biblical story. But it almost buried in DeMille's silent roots. It's effects are still stunning though... A must see!
2009 3D - 5/10 2D - 5/10 Good 3D, but a rather boring first half wasn't suitably improved upon in its latter half. Worth a watch but overall disappointing...
2009 6/10 Good action, music and pace, let down with a unengaging plot. Shame...
2009 8/10 Surprising in tone, and enjoyable to watch even with the film's dark texture. Deeper than the trailers suggest but lighter than you might expect, thanks in large to one of Clint's best performances in years...
2009 7/10 Good thriller, well presented but let down purely but the futility of story. The film successfully builds tension and pace but is faced with an impossible task, considering the failure of the plot in question.
2009 7/10 NOT A PART OF MY COLLECTION Much better than the DaVinci Code, in pace and plot; Though the "Helicopter" final act let it down. Still a worthy thriller, and though not a must see, it certainly won't do you any harm.
2004 9/10 One of, if not the best Jesus flick, possibly second only to The Greatest Story Ever Told. Though the violence is horrific, and in many ways, impossible for a human to bear, let alone drag a cross around during and afterwards, this is a very effective film, and demonstrates as great movies often… Continue reading THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST
