Considered by High School Musical fans as the weakest of the lot, I couldn’t disagree more. This is the second film of the trilogy, which we see Troy (Zac Efron) try to find his place in the world and get his priorities straight with his status and responsibilities as star basketball player and being in a relationship with girlfriend, Gabriella (Venessa Hudgens). A balance which here, he fails to achieve, at least at first.
This is High School Musical 2. It’s what you would expect it to be. A made for Disney Channel teenage girl drama with some elaborate and well choreographed dance numbers and a feel good factor. It’s not really for me but out of the three, this was clearly the winner, with a change of setting to summer camp rather than the high school and a reasonable advancement of the paper-thin plot.
Saved by the music and the dance numbers if you like that this sort of thing but Shakespeare, it is not.
