This year has been a very light year for nEoFILM. My reviews have been sparse and until I have more time to write, I have being trying to find ways to keep things float. I have posted throughout the year on the major releases and have opted to begin writing collections of flash reviews in the interim.
But, 2014 has come to an end and it is time to reveal my choice for the coveted Film Of The Year.
This was the most enjoyable movie of 2014 and one which sticks out in my mind as a high point. Smart, classy and expertly written and conceived, The Lego Movie was as important an animated movie to me as Toy Story (1995) was when I first saw it back in early 1997.
There were so many others to chose from, with Godzilla (3d) and Transformers: Age Of Extinction (3D) fighting for the top spot, let alone Captain America: The Winter Soldier (3D), one of the best Marvels to date and possibly Christopher Nolan’s science fiction epic Interstellar, but that was disappointing. Let alone The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies (3D), Noah and Exodus: Gods & Kings, both of which were good but not quite reaching the entertainment or depth to make it to the top.
At time of writing this I have still to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1.
TOP FIVE – 2015
- THE LEGO MOVIE (3D), 9/10
- GODZILLA (3D), 10/10
- TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION (3D), 9/10
- INTERSTELLAR, 7/10
- GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, 8/10
Happy New Year! 2015 is looking like it may well be a vintage year with Star Wars: Episode VII, Jurassic World, which I’m not so sure about and The Avengers: Age Of Ultron as well as the final chapter of The Hunger Games saga, Mockingjay, Part 2, to name but a few. Let alone the usual controversies surrounding the awards season.
Will have to wait another year for Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice (3D) though, which has been delayed from this summer to March 2016.
