Well, it’s that time of year again, but this time, May 4th, is a Bank Holiday here in the U.K. So, in a decent move from Sky Movies, the entire day is dedicated to showing the movies in both chronological and production order, by starting their run at 6am with Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999) and then after Star Wars: Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi (1983) concluded the saga, The Phantom Menace begins the run of the prequels again to take us through the evening.
Not so great news that the poorer quality prequel trilogy gets TWO showings rather than the ONE showing given to the classic trilogy but at least this way, you can choose how to watch this saga.
This certainly a poignant year for Star Wars fans and this newly adopted day with the up coming release of the latest Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens which is to be released in theatres on December 18th, beginning what is planned to be the revival of the franchise and the beginnings of a new wave of Star Wars films, possibly to rival Disney’s other juggernaut , The Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Sky’s Star Wars Day begins at 6am on Sky Movies Showcase HD & SD.
So, “May the force be with you” on this, May the 4th.
